Pilot of a B-24 on a mission to bomb the Romanian Oil Fields, Germany's main source of fuel. Plane was hit by enemy fire causing the crew to bailout. He was injured and taken prisoner. Held in Bucharest, Romania from July 3, 1944 to September 15, 1944. Awarded the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Force Medal.
