Naval Aviator during the war. Enlisted in the V-5 program of the U.S. Navy in August 1941 and for 52 months served as an instructor. Served at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Whiting Field and Cory Field. Served in Rhode Island and Hollywood, Florida. Served in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii until relieved from active duty to serve in a reserve status while completing seminary training. returned to active as a Chaplain.
