Activity During WWII

He sailed the North Atlantic 1943-1945. Participated in the D-Day invasion aboard Liberty Ship, SS William Pendleton, which was bombed. He was injured and spent months in a hospital in Winchester, England. Proud of D-Day Medal received from Mayor of Cherbourg, France on the 50th Anniversary. Awarded North Atlantic Medal, Combat Ribbon, plaque from U.S. Marine Academy. Served in the Merchant Marine in the North Atlantic. Also received the Douglas Munro Auxiliary Services award by the WWII Veterans Committee, presented to a veteran for service in WWII.
