Activity During WWII

His Company was assigned to Prisoner of War camps, both German and Italian. He landed in Corsica with the 7th Army, Under command of General Patch. the Company ran a sawmill and repaired roads with the help of the Belgians and Yugoslavians. also constructed an emergency landing strip for planes making strikes over France. The Company became the 1025th Engineers. the unit bridged most the of the rivers in the Rhine-Rhone Valley. He was wounded April 10th while returning from a just completed bridge project and taken to evacuation hospital. Received the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operation Ribbon with 5 Stars, Good Conduct Medal.
