Served in Operation Varsity with the Airborne Division in 1945; 17th Airborne Division, 194th Regiment. Operation Varsity crossed the Rhine River on March 24, 1945. Mission was to capture key points and to assist the advance of ground troop. Gliders landed close to targets and achieved complete success.
