Branch Seal
Activity During WWII

When the war began, he planned to enlist in the Navy or use his skills as a pilot and teach others to fly, but he was needed here due to his expert welding skill. He worked as welding foreman at the American Bridge Company in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, building LST (landing ship, tanks), where ships were built in record numbers. He once fixed a crack in a ship no one else could fix. Also served in the Civil Air Patrol of the Office of Civilian Defense under Major General John F. Curry, Air Corps National Commander.
