Trained on Paris Island and Maui in Hawaii as a plane mechanic. He was going to be on a plane to be shipped out but came down with a rash. The plane he would have taken blew up at the end of the runway. He was the only survivor which earned him the nickname 'Lucky'. He was a very good sharp shooter. He loved the Marines.
