Served with the Corps of Engineers in North Africa, England and France with Company C, 237th Engineer Combat Battalion until he was wounded on June 6, 1944 at Normandy Beach. Awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Battle Star, the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge, WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon and the Bronze Service Arrowhead.
