Branch Seal
Activity During WWII

Received the Silver Star for gallantry in action in the vicinity of Amance, France, September 1944. Guided his platoon in a crawling advance along a road near the Forest of Champenoux. Led his men in a running attack across open rolling fields, against enemy positions 500 yards away. Caught in cross-fire from enemy machine guns and although mortally wounded he continued to direct the movement of his platoon across the field, shouting instructions until the German positions were overrun. His actions were largely responsible for the success of his unit in this operation.
