Activity During WWII

Served from October 1943 to January 1946 under General Patton's Third Army Heavy Artillery Division as cannoneer with the 15 ton 8 inch Howitzer cannons coming ashore on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France just a few days after D-day, June 1944. He and the other courageous men fought their way through Northern France, Central Europe, Ardennes Belgium where he took part in the 'Battle of the Bulge' getting wounded there and then continuing on to Rhineland, Germany as the war ended in 1945. Received several decorations which include the Purple Heart, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.
