Was aboard the USS Sanborn APA-193, Troop Transport. Served in the Pacific Theatre. February 19-28, 1945, participated in Amphibious Landing of Marine Combat Teams in the initial attack and occupation of Iwo Jima in the Volcano Islands, then occupied by Japanese Forces. April 1-12, 1945, participated in the initial invasion of Okinawa Island, Ryukyus Group, occupied by Japanese Forces. October 10, 1945, was in the landing of units of the 77th Division at Otaru, Hokkaido, during the occupation of the Japanese Islands. Received the American and Pacific Area Ribbons and the Victory Medal.
