Served as Crew Chief of B-17. 388th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. Entered service in September 1942. Shot down over the English Channel on 7th mission; captured May 8, 1944. POW in Stalag Luft 4. Marched from November to May 8, 1945 when liberated. 2000 POW marched back and forth, from East and West from November to May 8, 1945. Five Crew members died in the English Channel.
