At age 34 was drafted in 1942. After basic, was assigned to First Armored Division, L Company as a medic under General Patton in Tunisia where he was wounded. Was in battles under General Patton at Faid, El Guettar, Bow Arvada, Beja Mateur. All in Tunisia and the Occupation of Oran and Algeria. 50 years later received the last medal, the European Theatre Medal with a Silver Campaign Star. Also received a Purple Heart, American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre War Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars. Was wounded in 1943.
