Activity During WWII

Enlisted in January of 1942 and trained at Great Lakes. Served aboard the USS Long Island CVE-1 in the South Pacific, including Guadalcanal. Transferred to the USS Hancock CV-19 and saw action at Okinawa and Formosa. Wounded in April of 1945 when kamikaze attacked his ship off Formosa. Awarded the Purple Heart. Discharged on September 7, 1945.
