Entered service April 1943. Trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Arrived in Liverpool, England aboard HMS Mauretania, April 1944. Landed on Utah Beach on July 17, 1944, 1st Army through France and Germany. 9th Armored Division of the 1st Army, during the capture of the Remagen Bridge over the Rhine River. Honorably discharged from Army October 26, 1945. Awarded Bronze Star and 5 Battle Stars.
