Activity During WWII

Led a reconnaissance unit protecting the north flank of the XX Core of the 3rd Army under General Walton H. Walker, one of Patton's preferred generals, because he was a 'cavalry man'. Served Patton from D-day plus 60, until September 14, 1944 when he and his unit were caught in an ambush moving back through a Luxembourg town after a reconnaissance mission. Lost the use of his left arm for one year because the bullet went through his left elbow.
