While serving, was killed in action in Italy when his B-24 bomber was shot down over the Adriatic Sea. Plane was retrieved and the remains of 6 crew members were buried in Arlington. Posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Air Corps Medal. Was killed June 9, 1944, buried November 1951.
