Served in the South Pacific. The 11th ship in Tokyo, Neches A0-47, August 16, 1945. Served on the only tanker that shot down a kamikaze plane. Saw the original flag raised on Iwo Jima. His ship was present when the Japanese signed their unconditional surrender.
