Volunteered at 32 years of age. Served as a gunner's mate. Participated in the invasion of Serrano, Italy. Served on a ship for 3 years 3 months. Stationed at an ammunition depot outside Charleston, South Carolina for the last 9 months. Had knowledge of 50mm film projector and was asked by the captain at Charleston to repair the projectors. As a result, the camp was able to show movies 3 times a week. Discharged in July 1945.
