Activity During WWII

Assigned to the 7th Armored Division. Was at Normandy; scheduled to be 1st unit to cross the Rhine River but the bridge at Melun was blown up by the Germans before they could cross. Moved up river to Fountainebleau and crossed the Seine. They moved across northern France through much of the area famed as battle sites with little resistance. At Metz, the Germans resisted strongly. The 7th was detached from the 3rd Army and attached to the 1st Army, under British command and moved to Holland. THe 7th Armored took part in retaking the land that was lost to the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge. Wounded, recovered, and rejoined unit when the Germans surrendered.
