Artillery commander of Battery A, of the 302nd Field Artillery Battery. Gave the order to fire the first artillery round into Germany by American forces. The artillery barrage, fired from Luxembourg across the Moselle River, initiated the invasion of Germany by Patton's 3rd Army and heralded the beginning of the end of WWII.
