Member of the 4th Infantry Division and at the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day on June 6, 1944. Injured one week after the Battle of St Lo, France; then served in the Military Police. Received the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation, the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge. In July 1944, was chosen to be on the Honor Guard.
