Served from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theater. With the 204th Engineer Combat Battalion Company. On March 22, 1945, supported the 5th Infantry Division on the first wave of assault boats to cross the Rhine River. Engineers swept the shore and land for mines and prepared sites for landing craft. These were notable feats of engineering in the crossing of the Rhine and the Moselle Rivers. Recorded in history as a major contribution to the success of the U.S. Army.
