Activity During WWII

Drafted under peacetime on February 27, 1941. Served in the Infantry for one and one 1/2 years. Transferred to the Army Air Corps via Aviation Cadet School. Graduated from Bombardier School on December 17, 1942. Flew anti-sub patrol from Langley Field, Virginia for nine months. Was based in England with the 8th Air Force. Flew offensive bombardment missions over the continent. Discharged in September 1945 after serving from April 1944 to June 1945. His plane was shot down and he had to bail out to save his life. Ninety percent of the men in his group did not survive the war. Flew 29 missions.
