90th Division Infantry. Radio Operator. Went into France the day after D-Day. Served in France, Belgium and Germany. Wounded twice. He stepped out of the Jeep one day and the shell hit it, killing the driver and wounding him. His radio was gone and he devised a radio sender out of a safety pin and a razor blade to let the command know where the shelling was coming from. When he got back to the rest of his Battalion, he was told he merited a Silver Star for his action. The Lieutenant was killed before he wrote up the paper for it.
