Activity During WWII

ASSIGNED TO THE U.S. ARMY AIR CORPS AND WAS SENT TO SEVERAL BASES FOR TRAINING. IN MAY 1943, SHIPPED OUT ON THE QUEEN MARY FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. ASSIGNED TO THE 379TH SERVICE SQUADRON, 431ST AIR SERVICE GROUP ATTACHED TO THE 401ST BOMB GROUP. REPAIRED B-17 BOMBERS DAMAGED FROM BOMBING MISSIONS. IN 1944 VOLUNTEERED FOR INFANTRY TRAINING AT TIDWORTH, ENGLAND AND WAS SENT TO A REPLACEMENT CENTER IN FRANCE. ASSIGNED TO COMPANY C, 52ND ARMORED INFANTRY BATTALION, 9TH ARMORED DIVISION. IN JULY 1945, TRANSFERRED TO THE 45TH INFANTRY DIVISION TO BE DEPLOYED TO THE PACIFIC FOR THE INVASION OF JAPAN. SHIPPED TO ENGLAND FOR DEPLOYMENT TO THE U.S AND DISCHARGED IN NOVEMBER 1945.
