Enlisted July 27, 1940. Flight training was completed at the training Center at Maxwell Field, Alabama in March 1941. Served as a combat group commander. Flew 55 combat missions while serving in the European Theater from June 1942 until the end of the war. Flew during the invasion of North Africa and participated in the invasions of Sicily, Italy and Southern France. Promoted to Brigadier General.
