Recalled to active duty January 23, 1942 as Wire Corporal, Battery C, 189th Field Artillery Battalion. Supervised installation, testing, repair of central office and telephones, switchboards and performed tests to locate line trouble along with supervision over seven men. First into Africa June 22, 1943. Naples-Foggia CO 33 WD 45, Rome-Arno GO 33 WD 45, Rhineland GO 33 WD 45, Central Europe GO 40 WD 45, Sicily GO 33 WD 45. Purple Heart GO 12 ParII Headquarters 45th Infantry Division; European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon GO 1 Par 5 Headquarters 189th Field Artillery Battalion; American Defense Ribbon. Wounded November 1, 1943 in Italy. Honorable discharge September 24, 1945 as Corporal.
