Activity During WWII

Flew as radio operator/gunner on Kingfisher observation float plane out of Jacksonville, Florida Naval Air Station including some anti-submarine patrol. Later flew on missions to the Japanese Kuril Islands out of Attu Island in the Aleutians where he served as radio/radar/Loran operator on twin engine Lockheed Ventura aircraft. Entered naval flight school in November 1944 and progressed to instrument flight training on SNJ aircraft by spring 1946 when he decided to return to civilian life and go to college.
