WAS A SERGEANT IN HEADQUARTERS COMPANY 2, 502ND PARACHUTE INFANTRY REGIMENT, 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION. JUMPED INTO FRANCE ON D-DAY AND JUMPED INTO HOLLAND IN OPERATION MARKET GARDEN. FOUGHT IN FRANCE, BELGIUM, HOLLAND, GERMANY, AND THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. WAS AWARDED 2 PURPLE HEARTS, BRONZE STAR, EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS RIBBON WITH 4 BATTLE STARS, PRESIDENTIAL UNIT CITATION WITH OAK LEAF CLUSTER, WWII VICTORY MEDAL, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, LIBERATION OF EINDHOVEN MEDAL, THE FRENCH CROIX DE GUERRE WITH PALM (FOR OPERATIONS IN NORMANDY), AND THE BELGIAN CROIX DE GUERRE.
