SERVED IN COMPANY F, 134TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 35TH DIVISION FROM JUNE 17, 1941 TO JULY 25, 1945. WOUNDED ON JULY 15, 1944 AT ST. LO, FRANCE AND PARALYZED FROM THE NECK DOWN. WHILE EN ROUTE HOME TO THE HOSPITAL HE LEARNED OF HIS WIFE'S DEATH IN CHILDBIRTH WITH FIRST CHILD, WHO ALSO DIED. HE LIVED ONE YEAR AFTER HIS INJURY. AWARDED THE PURPLE HEART.
