ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON JULY 6, 1942 AT SCOTT FIELD, ILLINOIS. AFTER TRAINING, INCLUDING THE CENTRAL SIGNAL CORPS SCHOOL AT CAMP CROWDER, MISSOURI, DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON MARCH 5, 1943 BOUND FOR THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS. SERVED AS A SUPPLY NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER (MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY 821) WITH THE 9TH ARMY AIR FORCES RADIO SQUADRON THROUGH THE ROME-ARNO AND NORTHERN APENNINES CAMPAIGNS. EARNED A MERITORIOUS UNIT AWARD, THE AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 2 BRONZE BATTLE STARS, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL, THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLY DISCHARGED AS A SERGEANT ON NOVEMBER 27, 1945 AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS.
