Basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia; July to August 1944 Army Air Force troop carrier command, Stout Field, Indiana; September to November 1944. South Post, Fort Myers, Virginia; December 1944 to January 1946. Assigned to the War Department Equipment Board. At the start, she was the only female who did all the typing for officers called in to write up their findings on equipment. On completion, the typed material was sent to the printers. Members from all branches of the military, as well as high level civilians became part of the largest board to ever convene in the War Department. Received a commendation medal from General Joseph W. Stilwell, who was president of the board.
